Gut Bacteria and Autism

In my video earlier this week I touched on the subject of the brain and gut connection for conditions such as IBS, depression and I also mentioned autism.

Recent studies have shown that 9 out of 10 individuals diagnosed with autism also suffer from gastrointestinal problems such as inflammatory bowel disease and “leaky gut”.   It’s not yet clear how gut bacteria might influence behaviour but it is thought that a leaky gut could allow substances to pass into the bloodstream that harm the brain.

When I see someone with autism or any other condition relating to the gut, I treat them holistically taking into account all of their presenting symptoms and even their personality type. This enables me to carefully select a remedy that matches the symptoms that are unique to them, after all we are not all the same.

If you would like to know how I can help using homeopathy which is a safe, gentle and non toxic form of medicine please contact me for a free 15 minute chat.

There is also an excellent book on this subject which covers autism called Gut and Psychology Syndrome by Dr Natasha Campbell-McBride and is sold on Amazon.
