Hot Flushes & Psoriasis

Hot Flushes and Psoriasis
Hot Flushes and Psoriasis

Pam* came to see me for her hot flushes, exhaustion and psoriasis. The first thing I noticed was she carried a bottle of water and didn’t let it go, holding it tightly and drinking from it throughout the consultation.

She told me she felt heated all the time, she was exhausted and it interfered with her sleep, she avoided public transport and would change clothes 3 times a day.

She was irritable with her family and it was getting the whole family down.

She explained that she’d had psoriasis since she was a child, she’d always lived with it and it was manageable but she felt it was getting worse.

The heat she felt in her body made her want to continually scratch her skin and this didn’t help. The psoriasis had always been on her elbows and knees but she told me it was now spreading to her legs, arms and face. She said she felt ugly.

I spent some time on her case and decided to prescribe her Sulphur which incorporated all of her symptoms working on the totality both on the physical and emotional levels.

Pam returned for her follow up appointment five weeks later.

I noticed her skin was less red and she told me it was less itchy so she was able to forget about it. She said her sleep had only began to improve in the last few weeks and her hot flushes had gradually reduced but were still happening but she wasn’t having to change clothes 3 times a day. I also noticed that she was not clinging to the bottle of water and only drank from it occasionally.

Pam continued to see me for a period of 6 months during which time we worked together, her skin improved gradually. Her hot flushes were far and few between and she was far less irritable with her family. I also supported Pam through a time when both her husband and father became ill. She told me that had this happened a few months earlier she would have gone into a complete meltdown and would probably have had a breakdown. She felt stronger and more confident in every aspect of her life.

She was so pleased with her treatment that she told her son about homeopathy and I went on to help him for depression and skin problems.

Homeopathy can support us on many levels and whilst Pam came to see me with hot flushes and psoriasis they are two very different conditions, however because homeopathy treats the whole person I selected a remedy that took into account all of her symptoms and also on the emotional side. This is why homeopathy is so effective – it treats the whole person and it is gentle, safe and more importantly non-toxic.

HELP I’m approaching the menopause

HELP I'm approaching the menopause
HELP I’m approaching the menopause

Linda* was 47 when she came to see me. She was approaching the menopause (peri-menopausal), depressed, experiencing memory loss, panic attacks and hot flushes. She also experienced insomnia and restless legs.

Linda had moved to the UK from SA with her husband and children. She found the lifestyle here in the UK very different. She missed her friends and told me that she’d had a difficult relationship with her mother.  She said she was struggling at work especially as she kept forgetting things and said she didn’t feel she was as sharp as she used to be and she felt “old”.

She was getting hot flushes 2-3 times a day but none during the night but she was unable to sleep due to anxiety and her restless leg syndrome. She was bloated and had constipation. She had daily headaches and had become extremely sensitive to noise.

She told me that she felt she was no longer in control and it was causing her to have panic attacks. Anxiety and panic attacks are common for women approaching or going through the menopause.

I spent some time on Linda’s case to find the best remedy that fitted her symptoms. As a homeopath I have over 3000 remedies that I can choose from.   I prescribed Carc 200.

Linda returned for her follow up appointment 5 weeks later.   She told me that her headaches had gone. She’d had no panic attacks and her work had become more manageable and she felt her memory had improved.   She’d only had one really bad hot flush and that was when she was on the tube and it had stopped in between stations and she began to panic and she felt like she was going to die. Her restless leg syndrome was only happening very occasionally and as a result she was getting more sleep.

Linda continued to see me for a few more months and all her peri-menopausal symptoms improved as did her overall mood and wellbeing. She was much happier, she was enjoying life far more and her husband had also noticed a huge change. She said she hadn’t known what all the fuss was about.  She gave the remedies 10 out of 10.

The menopause can be a troubling time for women especially with all the changes that are going on internally with our bodies but it really doesn’t have to be this way.

Homeopathy supports women approaching or going through the menopause this is because it helps on all levels without the need to take synthetic hormones such as HRT which cause disruption to our endocrine system.

If you are peri-menopausal or are worried about the menopause please feel free to contact me as I offer a free 15 minute chat where you can talk to me and I can let you know how I might be able to help you with your symptoms using homeopathy.

Help I’m so stressed out. . .

Are you living with Chronic Stress?
Are you living with Chronic Stress?

It seems like there is so much to do and so little time.

Most of us experience some form of stress during our lives but if you experience any of the following on a long-term basis you could actually be suffering from chronic stress: poor sleep, anxiety, depression, sugar or caffeine cravings, self destructive behaviour.

But did you know that living with continuous high levels of stress can cause further damage such as adrenal fatigue, food intolerances, intestinal infections, infertility, inflammation and general hormone imbalance.

Living with chronic stress means there is a constant surge of hormones like cortisol and adrenaline causing blood sugar to rise. Our bodies were only designed to produce these hormones for short periods of time, but with chronic stress it means it is always at work and our adrenal glands aren’t producing other important hormones such as DHEA, aldosterone, testosterone, oestrogens and progesterone’s.

The long term effects of over production of Cortisol can lead to silent killers such as type II diabetes, heart disease and high blood pressure, not to mention irregular menstrual cycles, worsening PMS symptoms, infertility and skin problems.

If you have been suffering from any of the above symptoms for a while then you should consider adrenal fatigue as the culprit.

Homeopathic treatment can help anyone living with chronic stress and can help to rebalance hormone production. Please contact me for a free no obligation chat if you would like to find out more.
