Anxiety – don’t let it get the better of you.

I am seeing more people in my practice who are living with stress and anxiety. Anyone who has anxiety will know only too well how debilitating this can be and how it can eat into all areas of their life.

There are different types of anxiety and one is quite normal, for example to feel nervous before taking an exam or driving test, but then there is another kind which is more than a feeling of nervousness or unease about doing something.   It can over time, manifest itself and can have a crippling affect on lives, leading to not wanting to do things, and in severe cases not even wanting to leave the house and do the things that were once enjoyed. The anxiety grows even more and can lead to further symptoms such as high blood pressure and palpitations.

People experiencing anxiety begin to think there is something wrong with them, which of course isn’t the case at all.  Unfortunately these thoughts then leave people feeling even more anxious and self-conscious and the anxiety becomes a vicious circle.

If you suffer from IBS then you will be familiar with the symptoms that can sometimes make your life a misery. The symptoms and causes differ from person to person, but range from abdominal cramps, bloating, diarrhoea or constipation.
