About a third of my time in my practice is spent helping women who are approaching the menopause and are experiencing unwanted symptoms; anxiety, insomnia, hot flushes, mood swings and depression. 

A Natural and Happy Menopause

I’m finding that more and more women are looking for a natural approach to their health and want to avoid HRT and medication.  They want a spring in their step and to feel how they used to.  

The menopause is a natural process and stage of our life and I am a great believer that if we are in good health it should not cause us any major problems.  Unfortunately this is not always the case and many women experience symptoms such as anxiety, insomnia, night sweats, mood swings and depression.    

These symptoms can be really difficult for people who might never have experienced any of these symptoms before and they may begin to  feel they have no control over their body and seek help.  More often than not their GP will offer and prescribe HRT for the menopausal symptoms and may even offer anti-depressants for the anxiety and depression.  

Most of the ladies that come to see me don’t want to go down this route, mainly because they have become aware of the side effects of taking synthetic hormones.  They are more aware of alternatives available and are looking for a natural approach to their health.  

Invariably years of oral contraception such as taking the pill or having the coil fitted can have an impact on our hormonal health and also on our endocrine system.   

I find that after 2-3 treatments symptoms the ladies who see me begin to feel happier and calmer again.  They report back excitedly telling me that they feel like themselves again.  They get a new spring in their step and are ready to take on the next chapter of their lives.
