Homeopathic Remedies for Sunburn
As the weather heats up many people get caught out and can get sunburn without realising. Homeopathic remedies can really help and below I list the Top 6 remedies for sunburn and burns.
Apis Mellifica
The skin will look red, swollen and puffy with burning and stinging pains. It will feel worse from heat and from touch and will feel better for cold applications. Use this remedy for mild to moderate sunburn that feels stingy and prickly.
Belladonna
The skin will be bright red and will have a throbbing sensation, there may also be a fever, a headache and heat exhaustion. This is best for early-stage sunburn with sun exposure. The skin will feel like a throbbing pain but there will be no blisters.
Cantharis
This remedy should be considered for painful and blistering sunburn. There will be intense burning with a stinging pain and the skin will be very sensitive to touch. This remedy is best for severe sunburn that feels like it has been scalded. It can also be used for any type of burn.
Causticum
This remedy is for severe sunburn and for 3rd degree.
Sulphur
The key symptoms with this remedy is itching, burning that is aggravated by heat, the skin might be dry and may even be peeling. It is best for later stages of sunburn when the skin is still dry and maybe slow to heal.
Urticaria Urens
Consider this remedy is there is itching, burning and stinging and is an excellent remedy for prickly heat. It is best for mild sunburn with itching and stinging sensations. As well as pillule form this is also available in a cream form.
As with all homeopathic remedies, as soon as symptoms start to improve they should be STOPPED. You can also make a homeopathic “wet dose” by putting 1 small homeopathic pillule into water and shaking it each time if in a bottle or stirring if in a glass and sipping every 30 minutes (remember to shake or stir each time).
Remember it is always best to avoid midday sun and to always wear a sunscreen.
